January 2026 – United for Climate Justice (UCJ) is proud to share our 2025 Annual Report, a testament to the power of collective action in the face of climate injustice. From exposing illegal mining to challenging fossil fuel subsidies and criminal politics, 2025 was a year of relentless advocacy, community empowerment, and systemic change.

Who We Are
United for Climate Justice is a volunteer-driven platform of over 30 climate and social justice movements. Established in 2023, we advocate for rapid, systemic change—rooted in science, intersectionality, and the voices of those most affected by the climate crisis.
2025 Highlights: Fighting for Justice
1. Stop Fossil Subsidies: Holding the EU Accountable
- EU’s Broken Promises: The EU failed to phase out fossil fuel subsidies by 2025, despite its commitments. UCJ launched the COFFIS Observatory, a civil society coalition tracking government progress and pushing for transparency.
- Open Letter & Framework: We submitted an open letter to the EU Commission and developed a framework for phasing out fossil fuel subsidies.
2. Stop Criminal Politics: Exposing Corruption in North Africa
- Campaign Launch: In September 2025, we launched the Stop Criminal Politics campaign, highlighting the links between fossil fuel extraction, extractivism, and political corruption—especially in Africa.
- Community-Led Advocacy: Our social media series amplified voices from Zambia, Namibia, DRC, Tanzania, and Uganda, exposing local corruption and mobilizing global solidarity.
3. Empowering Frontline Communities
- Non-Violence Workshops: We crowdfunded and organized non-violent resistance workshops in DRC, Uganda, and Zambia, strengthening grassroots movements.
- COP30 in Belém: UCJ secured access to COP30, participating in negotiations and connecting with activists worldwide. Our actions were featured in The Guardian.
4. Exposing Illegal Gold Mining in Zambia
- Nondo Senga Hill Investigation: With local partners, we exposed illegal gold mining in Zambia’s Nondo Senga Hill District, where communities face eviction and environmental devastation. Read our press release and see our Instagram coverage.
Looking Ahead: 2026 and Beyond
2025 showed us that change is possible when communities unite. In 2026, UCJ will:
- Expand the COFFIS Observatory to more countries.
- Deepening the Stop Criminal Politics campaign, with a focus on holding corrupt actors accountable.
- Support more frontline communities in Africa and beyond, ensuring their voices lead the fight for climate justice.
